Pack Modification Gallery

Are you an ultra light hiker and need extra pockets on a small pack? Want to add some storage capacity to your existing pack? Need zipper access? How about an interior water bladder pocket? I have done these types of modifications and more to many types of packs. Please use pricing as a guideline only. Note: there may a charge to open and close the pack, in addition to the work specified. (updated 9/06)

Duplicate/Replacement Pack Bag- Tom had an old, old NF pack bag that he loved but it was in tatters, and he desperately needed to replace it for a Wind Rivers hiking trip in July of 2005. $300

I wanted to drop you a quick note to say that the backpack bag you made for me is doing great a year later. Not a single problem with the stout sewing job that you did for me. At this rate, I am sure that it will outlast the original North Face bag and might outlive my backpacking days!

We just got back from our summer backpacking adventure – this time we went to the Pacific Northwest. We hiked about 60 miles around a little over half of the Wonderland Trail that encircles Mt. Rainier. Fortunately, we were blessed with excellent weather on 6 of the 7 days we were on the mountain. But for about 36 hours it was totally miserable as we crossed the highest point on the Wonderland Trail – Panhandle Gap. We had a glorious time. The trail was a lot better than in the Wind Rivers but I missed the pure ‘wildness’ of that true wilderness. Rainier is more tame and organized, by comparison.

I also wanted to reiterate how pleased I was at how quickly you put together a custom pack that ended up fitting just perfectly.

($25 each)

pocket extension

Here, I added pocket extensions to make the side pockets deeper ($37.5 ea)

NT Snow Leopard top pockets
The pack top pocket on the right is an exact copy of the original. My client had lost his top pocket, but was able to borrow one from a buddy so that I could duplicate it exactly. I had to start from scratch, make a pattern and more ($140)

Full panel zipper added for access to top loading Osprey pack ($125)

This pack is Oilcloth, with metal and leather findings. It was duplicated from another pack, as a gift for this man's bride.
