What Penny likes to sew for herself, friends and family...

Most recently I've been on a "jersey jag" but I sew other things too:

Where do I get my inspiration? It's hard to say for sure, but I'm always looking for that perfect lycra print... this one I like to wear for my "ride like a girl" women's mountain bike rides. I used the Jalie pattern for this one. I used print lycra for the panels, and wicking supplex for the body.
This is my friend Paladin with the infamous "Liberace" jersey. This is swim lycra panels with wicking supplex body.

My sister and I designed this custom silkscreen fabric and this jersey (Jalie 2216) is the result. I may do more in the future and possibly offer them for sale.

I LOVE this wicking jersey for cool weather riding. Fabric from OWF. If you have a serger, bike jerseys are a super quick, rewarding way to whip something up in an afternoon.

Cycling shell jacket is supplex, Storm Mtn. "Golden Triangle" pattern. I changed it so there were front napoleon pockets, and lined the collar with microfleece. The tights are a Stretch and Sew pattern, with 9 oz. (heavy) lycra, and there are shorts of the same under the tights.

10 minute project. Cycle booties made of Polartec™ 2000s. Use a sock pattern, cut holes for cleats and you're done. They work great, nice and warm!!

CE#65 in P200 for my hubby. This is such a great pattern for fleece and other moderate stretch fabric. He wear these every weekend skiing. I added a supplex patch pocket with a zipper, and a Gramicci style elastic/web/tab buckle waist band.

I found the socks first, and then I found the lycra print on the flat fold table at a chain store. The grey wicking lycra came from Outdoor Threads and was a gift from a sewing & biking pal of mine. Update: some recently gave me a HELMET that matches... Look out!!!

This is a cozy microfleece (P100 Chamois) using Kwik Sew 2436. It's a great base layer. I am planning on making some more of these using Powerdry or other wicking fabrics

This bike jersey is made from some really nice Capilene I got from OWF. The pattern is Jalie #2216. Jalie is a Canadian pattern company. The materials cost less than $10, plus a few hours of my time.

This is the "guaranteed to scare wildlife" bike jersey, Green Pepper #401 made of wicking supplex from Seattle Fabrics and  swimsuit lycra from Peak Fabrics.
